Dutch Midwifery Universities

Home

In the Netherlands pregnancy is seen as a normal, healthy event, and many women have their babies at home. Often they are cared for by midwives, who operate as independent medical practitioners. During your midwifery training you learn everything about normal pregnancies, childbirth and the post birth period, as well as abnormal pregnancies and the complications that sometimes arise. Essentially, you become a specialist in midwifery.

You can take the four-year higher vocational education (HBO) midwifery programme in Amsterdam, Groningen, Maastricht and Rotterdam. Administratively, the Amsterdam and Groningen academies belong to the same foundation.

Hard work, great satisfaction
